Stamps of LAO

As a gerenal collector as well as Stampedia webmaster , I've put almost all the stamps of LAO into my Lindner album. I got perfect collection of LAO at Christoph Gaertner auction last year and this collection contains most of the souvenior sheet in early times. Of course there are some missing stamps in it , I found and get some of them at ebay.

When I put stamps of new country , I also study the country on Wikipedia. Getting new knowledge is exciting.

There are some portrait of king on the LAO stamp in 50's and 60's.

After the Vietnam war however , communism abolished the monarchy , look&feel of LAO stamp has completely changed (after July 1975).

Study from price change of stamps tells me there were twice inflation in LAO.

First time is around 1990 when the cold war ends and the other is around 2000 of asian currency crisis.

Now we start scanning and making text databese of them and we will exhibit LAO catalog in our Project.Bangkok (this August).

How I re-start philately.

I started collecting stamps again just 2 years and half ago after 20 years absence from philately.

I've not completely lost interest on stamps during the time , so I have stored all the stamps , covers and albums into the stockyards. I also made certain stamp related homepage during the time , I've never bought stamps from dealers and auctions however.Business fascinated me much more than stamps during the time. I have almost forgotten how to use tweezers , Hinge !!

After retirement from the former company, I travelled around the world and one day I remembered my hobby of Junior days. I checked stamps on Google and found there're many stamps sold on eBay. As I was a leader of internet industries ,of course I knew eBay, but this is the first time I start using eBay and that day is in the middle of August 2007.

I've been collecting stamps eagerly from then and I found many dealers began to have web-site. A few of them has good interface , but it is much better to get stamps on the internet from forein countries than to get stamps by fax and postal mail 20 years ago.About payment the situation is much better , now I can use paypal instead of expensive and useless wire transfer.

On the other hand, I felt much inconvinient on getting knowledge of philately. There are some stamp catalog or stamp community on the internet , I want Worldwide stamp catalog with all the images and all the varietys .If it is free and multi-languaged , it's better. This is why I'm working for stampdia project.
