Scenic cancellation of Top of the Mt. Fuji Post Office

 

Among scenic cancellations, that of Top of the Mt. Fuji Post Office is one of the popular one. It is not so rare because you can get it by sending stamps to the post office. However, isn't it still usual if the sender is an CEO of Dentsu, the biggest promotion company in Japan?

If you understand what I mean, you're so involved in Japanese promotion business. Dentsu is very famous for their young staff's Mt.Fuji marathon and they send summer greeting cards from the top of the Mt.Fuji post office every year. They recruits many athlete from various university, so there're plenty of runners every year.

As far as I know, Dentsu started this event when the era was "SHOWA", so they knew what the merit of scenic cancellation.

 

I made a first exhibit at the internaional philatelic exhibition.

1856 MECKLENBURG-SCHWERIN 1/4 schilling stamp, block of 4My exhibition work at PHILANIPPON2011 was my first participate to an international stamp competition. As I lost my fervoer on philately when I was young just because I hate straitjacketed thinking of those days , I don't have good impressions on stamp conmpetition when I restart philately four years ago.

But I don't think it good to hate stamp competition without an experience of some competition. That's why I got involved in stamp competition, though I'm just a general collector and not good at specialized collection. As a resullt, I came to the conclusion that stamp competition is indispensable as well as not required to everyone.

This thought has been a basic thought in western countries where philately was born. There're many famous collector who don't make a competitive exhibit works. Sometimes there're famous collector who don't make an album pages!! Japanese philatelists don't know this essence thirty years ago and gave to junior collectors wrong thought such as "He is not a philatelist just because he don't make an album page". This mistake coused the weakness of today's philatelic situation in Japan.

I think philately is very similart to those sports such as Figure Skate, Synchronized Swimming and Flying point of Ski Jump. Because both of them are judged by juries. Like these sports, philately has an international society and have an international rules and fight on it. The international comittee develops juries to prevent wrong judges people by people. Rule is sometimes changed by the comittee.

It is very important, however, these comittee don't disdain those people who don't join the competition.It is same in Philately.This time I feel it very much to meet the people of F.I.P.

So the attitude to hate a competitive stamp show is as bad as the attitude to hate a philatelist who don't make an album page and force them to do so. The only thing what I hate is a narrow pocket and I don't want any philatelists to feel what he's doing is valueless. Now Japanese philatelic magazine has made a great progress and they have a wide pocket now. It's a good time!

I started making exhibit works just one and a half years ago, I'm now very much involved in it because of its attractiveness. Of course I have an experience to get worse point than I thought, but I should understand the rule more because it is judged strictly. So I appreciate very much to all the people who runs Philanippon such as Commissioner, Judges, Staff and Volunteers.

Stamp tells the history of Hong Kong

Mr.Yosuke Naito, I met him when we're Jr. high school students, has been writing so many books recently and has made a great contribution to philately.

I happened to meet him at a stamp market in Tokyo this May after "one fourth centuries"! There I got some his writings with his own autographs. I'd like to write impressions about them without any falatteries. As I'm already philatelist and involved in general collections all over the world, "The best 100 Japanese stamps" is not for me , I think, though of course it is still a very good writings to the non-philatelic people.
I like "Hong Kong" much better and I feel very excited page by page when I read it.

Hong Kong is one of the best three cities in the world for me. No.1 changes as time goes by, Zurich, Berlin, Paris, Tokyo, Hakata and Seoul sometimes. I use to like Singapore but is under 6 now. By the way I did not know much about the history of Hong Kong. So I feel very excited to see its history of Before the Great Britain, British Colonies, Br to China time, China time and recent development. Mr.Naito shows all the history only by philatelic materials.

Mr.Naito is famous as an exhibitor of International stamp show, that's why his story is very good for us, reader, but I still feel excited to see such a dramatic history can be told only by phiatelic materials. I heard he also tried to write a book of Macau. I'd like to try it during this summer vacation.

 

JAPAN 2011 Rose in Versailles stamps to Paris

This is the postcard with Japan 2011 Rose in Versailles stamps posted at Sendai Station Post Office.

Because this stamps are based on a Japanese comic Rose in Versailles (France Revolution) , I really want something with the destination of Paris. I made two copies, but as I thought the cancellation does not tie to the postcard. So I think it was good to have 10 yen definitive stamp tied to the postcard.

 

However, it is not so interesting to collect Super Modern covers because there are no arrival cancellations.

 

 

2011 Japan Postcards with East-Japan Earthquake donations addressed to Germany

Now I have nothing to do about PHILANIPPON2011 after a few day's cleaning.

I joined it as both of an exhibitor and a stand holder, I had much fun than ever, though I can not do anything else so far this year. So I had been thinking I start something new from this August and as one of them, I decided to start collecting Japanese stamps. I have already bought some good lots and made some interesting philatelic covers at the post office.

Shown is a post card issued this year with East Japan Earthquake Donations. I happened to go to Sendai, the disastered area this June, I sent a post card to Germany.

A friend of mine living in Sendai tells me people should not quit travelling to Sendai and coming more than usual to spend money and that makes the economy of disastered area better. So I'd like to find more time to go there and get stamps and some fruits as a gift there.
